Welcome to 2017, the 150th anniversary of Confederation. May I take this opportunity to wish you and your families the very best for health, peace and prosperity in 2017, and to thank you again for placing your trust in me as your Member of Parliament. I feel truly blessed and humbled by your support and promise to work diligently on your behalf.
In our first year in government, we took many steps to bring about change for Canadians, such as the first-ever gender neutral cabinet, lower taxes for the middle class, brought back the long-form census, committed to ambitious climate change targets, launched an inquiry into missing Indigenous women, and delivered on our promise to invest in youth. Our top priority this year is to grow, strengthen and create opportunities across our great country for our middle class and those wishing to join it.
